Jeffrey and Mr. BE discuss the consciousness of dealing with extreme violence, rape and anger as described by Barbara Goldman of the Santa Fe Rape Crisis and Trauma Treatment Center and the various levels of personal involvement from a spiritual point of view.

Jeffrey also reviews Stairways To Heaven - The Practical Magic Of Sacred Space by filmmaker and best-selling author Freddy Silva. Freddy's book, Secrets In The Fields, is perhaps the most thorough and authoritative explanation of the sacred geometry and hard science within the magnificent crop circles which have appeared in more than 11,000 places in the last 15 years.

The Seven Sacred Rites of True SPIRIT RIDERS - GO SEE THIS FILM!

Do you have a comment or question for Jeffrey?
Call our comment line at 206-495-3131 and leave Jeffrey a comment, question, or idea.
Also, you can leave questions for any of the guests we have.

Jeffrey dialogues with James Kleinert, filmmaker and US Freestyle athlete about his life before film, getting involved with the Lakota Nation,  growing up in Wisconsin, his awakened spirituality inspired from his work with Native American Cultures and his monumental work on his beautiful documentary, SPIRIT RIDERS.

SPIRIT RIDERS is an international award-winning documentary film about the birth of an American Indian peace movement, begun in 1990 by the Lakota Nation and its growth over the subsequent years.

From the stunning images of wilderness landscapes to the dramatic footage of peace and unity horseback rides, this film is a visual delight. With narration by Peter Coyote, interviews with ride-participant Viggo Mortensen (Lord Of The Rings & Hidalgo) and an eclectic soundtrack featuring American Indian Grammy winner Bill Miller, Robert Mirabal, Keith Secola, Rick Allen, Lauren Monroe. SPIRIT RIDERS not only entertains, but leads the audience on a profound journey inside a culture and a movement offering ancient traditional visions of peace to a troubled modern world.

Many respected members of the Lakota community, including descendants of Sitting Bull and Black Elk are featured in the film, both as participants in the rides and as social/cultural commentators. Charlotte Black Elk, Alex Whiteplume, Birgil Killstraight, Ron His Horse Is Thunder, Russell Means and Mel Lonehill all make appearances in the film.

The film introduces us to the Lakota Indian tradition of ceremonial horseback rides and how in the last fifteen years these rides have become a source of inspiration for the Lakota people and a medium for a worldwide message of peace. We explore the annual Peace And Unity rides which each year are conducted to a different sacred site on the summer solstice. On that day, June 21st, a ceremony is held for peace among all people of the world and harmony with the environment. The film shows how this vision is coming to pass as the movement, which started as a purely local event, has since led to annual ceremonies not only in Central America but as far away as Ireland, Australia and South Africa.

SPIRIT RIDERS explores how the roots of the World Peace movement lie in the suffering and recovery of the Lakota. Through rides and ceremonies, Lakota people have found ways to let go of the grief and despair which persisted for over a hundred years following the 1890 massacre at Wounded Knee and envision a new and hopeful future. This is the invaluable journey which the Lakota people have to offer not only their own people but all the peoples of the world.

The film has a wonderful interview with Viggo Mortensen who has donated much of his time and resources to making this project happen and has a special interest in horses (Hidalgo).  James also talks about his spiritual transformation that was precipitated by a serious injury that was sustained while doing dangerous stunt work on a film project just before he was inspired to pursue his passion for the story of the Lakota Nation.
SPIRIT RIDER promises to be a landmark film that has much to offer a world that needs a greater connection to life, the earth, and a heart centered consciousness.

Films discussed on this show
Brokeback Mountain: Love is a force of nature
Brokeback Mountain is a sweeping epic that explores the lives of two young men, a ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy, who meet in the summer of 1963 and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection. The complications, joys and heartbreak they experience provide a testament to the endurance and power of love. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal deliver emotionally charged, remarkably moving performances in "a movie that is destined to become one of the great classics of our time" (Clay Smith, The Insider)

Independent Intervention is an award-winning documentary about the US Media coverage of the war in Iraq.
Focusing on the human costs of war, it contrasts the mass media's coverage of the invasion of Iraq with independent reports of the brutal realities on the ground.

Moment by Moment: The Healing Journey of Molly Hale
Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated independent filmmaker Dorothy Fadiman directed and produced Moment by Moment: the Healing Journey of Molly Hale, which explores one woman's inspiring response to the extraordinary challenges presented by catastrophic injury.
Having lost virtually all movement from the shoulders down in an automobile accident, Molly's simplest daily activities, her relationships, and her livelihood were thrown into chaos. The film invites us into her life and shares with us the obstacles she faces, the challenges she overcomes, and the attitude she brings to every moment of her new life.
Everything familiar and comfortable about your life can disappear in an instant. How would you face that challenge?

Loose Change 911
"Loose Change 2nd Edition" is the follow-up to the most provocative 9-11 documentary on the market today. This film shows direct connection between the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the United States government. Evidence is derived from news footage, scientific fact, and most important, Americans who suffered through that tragic day.

Time: 6-minutes

For those of us who entered this lifetime with an interest in what really makes life tick and a deep desire to finally master it after lifetimes of satisfying the human desires of pleasure, success, and duty to family and state, the idea of achieving true BLISS is a natural next step towards going home to GOD.

Most experiences in life are to be reckoned with from many different angles - material aspects that affect the physical conditions of life, emotional and Mental aspects that effect how one processes the experience and garners what one needs to from it in order to move into new realms of awareness, and the spiritual aspects, which instruct soul of its true nature and purpose.

BLISS is concerned with the melting away of the lesser desires in order to achieve a consciousness that can maintain a state of GOD awareness regardless of any circumstances.

In Western society, the concept of BLISS has been reduced to a sort of "high" that one achieves from one form of materialism or another - a better house, a new lover, a better paying job or any number of different ways to extract from our materially advanced society rewards that pander to the ego. This is very different from true spiritual BLISS.

BLISS is actually a state of awareness and being.  It matters little to the BLISSFUL one what external circumstances may be existing - pain and pleasure are aspects of the mind and have little consequence to the maintenance of BLISS, they are merely torches of Maya, or illusion that burn brighter and hotter with more attention and fade away as one turns ones inner gaze to the worlds of pure spirit and being.

One by-product of focusing on the truly spiritual is that many times one's outer conditions in the material world are positively affected by a focus on pure spirit, and one may find that all the issues that one has been working with in the mind regarding ones outer life have righted themselves without using the mind to correct the problems.  It's like a wisp of smoke disappearing into thin air, tracing how this works is next to impossible. But the greater reason to focus on spirit is to really grow ones consciousness to ever-higher states of being, bringing one into a loving awareness that is inexplicable and the real reward.

One powerful way to achieve a BLISSFUL state is to chant or sing your true name - HU.

HU is the first part of the word HU-MAN - HU being god or spirit, and MAN being derived from manos (Latin) - or mind). HU, the GOD part of oneself and MAN the mind part.  The particle or spark of GOD, the HU-MAN.  This is one's true name, and the sound of it has the power to take one right to BLISS, and then beyond.

We gratefully thank the Podsafe Music Network for providing some of the music today and for Symmetrical Angels-Part 2 by 2-RD from the Podsafe Music Network.

Jeffrey talks with Mr. Be about what freedom entails, the upcoming film by Aaron Russo- America: Freedom to Fascism and the underlying meaning of true freedom. Jeffrey also talks about how culture is created by language, the word or sound current, and how we each participate in that creation directly by the language and sounds we choose to use every moment. Jeffrey interviews Solis about her personal experiences with The Grateful Dead, the manager for the Grateful Dead, Rock Scully (and wife and author Nicki), Timothy Leary, Janis Joplin and many others from the cultural revolution of the 1960's.

Recounting personal stories and anecdotes from that tumultuous time, Solis offers her deep insights and wisdom about how a small group of people changed the western world forever, and what the spiritual roots were that made it possible. With roots in a Native American past combined with an all American childhood in California, Solis offers a rare, unvarnished understanding of the emerging world spiritual culture that is continuing to emerge all over the planet, and what she is doing today to make it manifest.

We thank Sedena Cappannelli for helping us out today with this reading.

Progressive human culture in the late 20th century was experiencing a cresting obsession with breaking every sociological and political barrier that could be intellectually defined in the name of freedom, expression and unfettered exploration. Social structures in the western world were examined, re-examined and exploded with the desire to find the core of life, and the next fresh breeze of experimental truth. The long and short list of art movements in the 20th century brought forth everything imaginable - surrealism, radical politicism, pop art, op art, abstract realism, surrealism, modernism, postmodernism and many mini-isms too numerous to recant. It had been a glorious century for the art world because there were many corners to turn as consciousness moved away from the limitations of the 19th century and science came into it's own as the new god, and the new empirically derived information led consciousness into a magnificent freedom encompassing a larger, more rational examination of all facets of human, animal and physical life. In the performing arts, all manner of this new examination was explored and every artist dreamt new horizons into being that promised to free them from the conservative uninformed dogma of religious superstition.

In the 1960's, pop culture caught up in the frenzy of the "love" generation produced an unrelenting media and entertainment explosion in the music and film businesses that managed to break every established barrier in American and world culture. History has elevated that era of tremendous change into the mythic realm - the magical mystery tour of consciousness expansion and an unfettering of all boundaries.

So one should not have been surprised while traversing the 1970's and 80's to see the growth of the art and consciousness trends discovered and begun during this powerful period of change solidify into established forms. The new feminism, gay liberation, ethnic and racial liberation, and the economic and social justice of today came out of that powerful transitional period. These new social paradigms, which began in the imaginations of artists and creators from that time, formatted themselves first for social acceptance, then social approval, and ultimately into social normalization. Gay marriage, once unheard of, is now legal in Massachusetts, and women and minorities have been increasing their presence in business and government positions steadily for decades - situations that were completely unthinkable and impossible 40 years ago.

Accompanying this meteoritic pace of change has been a continual retrogressive and resistant reactivity that views these great changes as misguided, undesirable and frightening. This should be expected, as any kind of change generally leaves most feeling uncomfortable and unsure. But human evolution is interminable regardless of personal resistance and fears. It is just a universal fact that is undeniable, and can be made more enjoyable when it is explored and embraced. It is what humans do at their best - learn new things every day thereby expanding their horizons and hearts. In fact it is the only really credible "salvation" in existence.

Pop art was a very capable art - for it did not seek to invent as much as reflect what was happening in the zeitgeist of popular culture. And when that culture mandated homogenization of a new social ethos as a new core value, it was really a straightforward task to reflect that newly establishing homogenization of cultural idioms.

In 1988 when Omni Art emerged, the focus of consciousness was shifting to an investigation into the invisible realities beneath the surface of the physical universe. At first, dozens and then hundreds of films and books came out about everything from basic psychic phenomenon and parapsychology, to quantum physics and inter-dimensional travel. It was in this culturally inspired consciousness evolution that the Omni Art Movement of the 21st Century was born.

In 1988, when artist Jeffrey Milburn founded Omni Art in New York City, the cultural milieu was ripe for the emergence of something that was so far reaching that it even left the MTV generation challenged to look further and deeper. So when Milburn mounted the first Omni Art Museum Exhibition, few understood what was actually taking place, and viewed his art with the blank stare of a deer in the headlights one would have if an alien spacecraft had just landed in their backyard.

Interestingly enough, that was exactly what was happening to many thousands of ordinary people - as there was a great jump in reports of "close encounters" with alien beings that had left many bewildered, questioning and afraid.

And Omni Art had landed at one of the premiere art museums in New York, and like the abducted, the critics and writers were mute. Most had become so entrenched and vested in post-modernism that had defined the New York scene for so long; that they simply were not equipped to write about an art that explored through quantum physics a 5 dimensional cosmological model of the universe. Modern and post-modern art had become stuck in it's own limited vocabulary of 20th century political and Newtonian scientific knowledge.

Omni Art is an art movement of the 21st century not because it follows so easily behind the multiple styles of post-modernism, but because it is a radical departure from them. It is as if the "language of reality" had leapt from a 25-word vocabulary to a 25,000-word vocabulary, and there were no dictionaries to refer to for explanation unless one was willing to explore and study from multiple sources of quantum physicists and spiritual masters. So it's no wonder that Omni Art remains largely unrecognized by the gatekeepers of the postmodern status quo in art museums and galleries around the world. And this is to Omni Art's credit, because traditionally the status quo has never embraced new art at it's birth, that recognition has always been reserved for a socially and economically safe retrospective. Today it is no different.

Omni Art embraces the greater view of all things, and with a greater view one can either grow afraid, or become fascinated and desire to understand and master that greater view. Omni Art challenges you to become a master of that greater view. After all, what is art for if not to expand your horizons, inspire your heart, and lift you to become an ever-greater divine knower of life? And so today, in 2006, the invitation to do just that has grown to now include thousands of listeners to this podcast in over 23 countries around the world, each with their own unique understandings and interests. This is a democracy of global spirituality unencumbered by the gatekeepers of post-modernism and it is free, truthful and direct.

A new consciousness culture is establishing itself at an accelerating pace, and Omni Art it there; doing what it has done since it first began 25 years ago - opening the window for a breath of fresh air, light and sound to break the constraints of common illusions to welcome in the divine spark of life that everyone truly is. In this recognition each individual is empowered to be their own divine illuminator in their own personal realm of influence, and this is the true transformation of power, wisdom and freedom that all seek.

Thank you for tuning in to the Omni Art Salon, and thank you for passing it on, after all, it's all about you, and who and what you really are.

The first step any child should be taught when they enter this life is that they are pilots and creators . . .

. . . and that there will be many experiences that await them in their human life that will demonstrate that they are indeed divine co-creators of their lives. This will help to give them the confidence they need to really trust their inner knowingness and develop their abilities to become the architects of their lives.

I remember as a young person traveling outside of my body consciousness, marveling at the wonderful details in nature, contemplating the clouds for hours, and singing original songs that came from deep within me. It was so very simple, beautiful and natural that it never occurred to me to question my knowingness of my divine imagination and creativity. As time went on the adults around me worked at educating my consciousness into proscribed formats of what was considered "reality" that were quite mundane. And so, over time this constant socialization process edged out my natural connections to the extraordinary experiences I was naturally having, and life became more and more limited.

I grew up in Boulder Colorado, which is situated on the front range of the majestic Rocky Mountains, a place of incredible natural beauty. I still remember playing hooky from primary school on more than one occasion and hiking to my favorite streamside cove to commune with the sunshine, the rushing water and crisp clean air. I had a very real knowingness that this was good, and the right thing to do, regardless of the fact that I knew I supposed to be in school. My innocence informed me that what my adult teachers taught in school paled in comparison to my nature excursions, my "other worldly" trips outside my body, and my inner knowingness and the gentle love that filled me with a purity that I trusted without a second thought. It was bliss to be alive in those moments, and it was worth getting in trouble later on just to enjoy those few magical hours where I just disappeared from everyone and everything to be in divine relationship.

It seems that adults spend much of their lives attempting to attain the delight of a child's natural connection to divine relationship, and there is a good reason why. This child like divine relationship is the key to unlocking one's heart to feel the safety in remembering who we are. We are Soul at play in a magnificent universe in which we are given the ability to create our experiences in life by the consciousness that we hold. If we always seek the divine and highest in every moment of our life, then we can marvel like a child at the simple beauties that constantly surround us and tap into the ever-present creativity of divine spirit that is the starting point for all things.

Each moment of each day that we live is a continuous opportunity to love more, enjoy more and learn more about the divine truths that live in our hearts. To be in divine relationship is to know who we really are.

I wonder how many are noticing the deconstruction that is taking place on a national level as we watch the constant pull of lower consciousness as it affects our national psyche. I hardly have to mention the list of what should be the outrages of the last decade to engage an emotional response to what can only be described as a degrading of truthfulness and fairness in the American social consciousness as it shows up daily in politics and public personalities. However I suspect that what is occurring on the surface of our culture, and that which the surface media concentrates on is a hypnotic, high definition concentration on the minutiae of scandals, deceptions, and horrors of the lowest of human behavior. Of course if there weren’t so many willing to oblige this appetite for the sleazy and horrific, then there may be a lull in the never ending parade of stories, but with billions of people and information technology that can deliver in seconds lurid details into everyone’s homes, this is unlikely to happen.

Where does that leave those of us who desire a more beautiful experience of life?

The age we live in is providing us with ever expanding potential for spiritual and consciousness development at an unprecedented rate and potential. There is so much information available to get involved in that it is literally mind boggling to try and imagine the details of these vast offerings. And yet at the same time it is also true that much of this vast information is pretty much all cut from the same cloth - lower level stimulation. And this lower level stimulation can be a subtle and powerful agent of disharmony and unhappiness for the individual who is attempting to focus on the higher things of consciousness. In fact the negative pull can be so strong that one can be fooled into thinking the very thoughts that one needs to be free from in order to achieve a divine overview. These kinds of thoughts are quite insidious and compel one to subtly switch one to think in limitation and negativity.

And who are the purveyors of this constant slush of negative thoughts and focus? Well, Political leaders, celebrities, entertainment voices to name a few, and others who constantly act in order to engage others into their reality bands. If one watches this play with detachment it can almost be humorous, and even make one feel that life on earth is one great big insane asylum. But at the same time it is a great opportunity to strengthen the divine viewpoint and rise above the sludge and fray.

I have watched with some interest the continual play going on out of Washington DC surrounding the obvious attempts to deconstruct the US Constitution and remove free speech, separation of church and state, and the right to privacy from the Constitution in order to gain personal political and economic advantage. For those of us who cannot imagine wanting to invade others personal and private lives with our own value-laden agenda, it seems impossibly ignorant and full of malice that others attempt to do exactly that, especially given the recent history of our nation where one would think that the lessons of poorly conceived wars and involvements had proven so misguided. But one is forced to ask - whose script are you following?

These extreme situations and dramas can only upset us emotionally or mentally to the extent that we have not examined out own base beliefs and learned how to maintain our state of consciousness. If one were to take an honest overview of human history one would find that humans have been acting in unscrupulous and power hungry ways for millennia in every culture on earth. So what's different today?

When George Bush took office he came replete with a spin machine, an agenda, and the props to impose his world on the rest of us. What we are witnessing is the unfolding drama that he and his machine had in mind from before the first election. There really should be no reactive behavior among the wizened among us, because reactive anger is an indication that one has been caught unprepared for reality and spent scant time examining the trends that have been in motion for decades.

So then what is effective?

Action… with specific outcomes that are realistic

Focus on end results with an eye on the obstacles of the negative concepts that we are dealing with - and anticipate the path that those who subscribe to those concepts will take.

Progressives got fairly lazy in the last few decades. They believed that their successes in the 1960’s and 70’s would continue unabated and that they could expect more and more freedom and expansion of civil justice forever. What they failed to take into account is the very strong and constant drift of history – that those in power in any society, and especially a society like ours that finds it’s tools of coercion are great, want to exercise power over others based on their own personal agendas.

George Bush has been experiencing a lot of trouble lately and his administration is under siege because they have an incapacity to understand that their agenda is not sustainable. They are experiencing a meltdown of public trust because the physics of human consciousness always move towards resolve and definition. Truth has a way of wiggling its way forward, even under extreme opposition. You are witnessing an expanding psychosis in American society as the stakes go higher to maintain thought control of the population to believe in a reality that has been manufactured in the imaginations of power hungry minds whose values are based solely in personal economic and social advancement. It is transparent to those who have the eyes to see that
The emperor is naked.

This process is dramatically karmic and unavoidable as anyone who has been in the path of his or her own karma can personally attest to. It appears that the karma for our national figures has sped up and is churning ever faster these days. Perhaps it is because we are actually evolving at a greater rate, but one thing is certain –one cannot bypass universal laws of cause and effect – no matter how much social and political power you have – everyone pays in the true coin - there is no escape from your choices and actions.

A deeper compassion is required to arrive at a higher understanding of the individuals who are experiencing the spotlight these days in the national and international media, because in all honesty, a 70-80 year life is a drop in the bucket of our vast universe, and the brief flash of ones lifetime in power is a glint off a mirror in the sun in the dessert.

Let us now assert who we really are – in all of our true divine origins and with the greatest love from the divine that we can imagine and make true what heretofore we have only philosophized about:

And that is to love all with compassion and detachment… and all will be ours. This is the greatest of life's commandments ever given to anyone– Love all and all will be yours, even the naked King.

In spiritual circles many discuss developing the right attitude towards life and the issues that confront us everyday as we travel our journey to greater awareness and love. There are many tools that one can use to achieve greater expansion of consciousness, but one of the greatest and most rudimentary tools or disciplines is a true detachment. Detachment is a funny word; it almost sounds like you are cutting yourself off from life - detaching - as it were, from things, feelings and emotions. However most of these ideas are based on limited old ideas about what detachment is from a very western perspective. Our culture is very reactive and emotionally based ands so detachment can sound like you are losing your passion or zest for life. But in reality a true spiritual detachment is really a way that provides for you to gain a deeper appreciation for life and to master it’s complexities with greater understanding and grace.

To really understand and make a true spiritual detachment a part of your beingness or consciousness one needs to allow ones consciousness to move into an ever higher vantage point that allows more objectivity towards people, things and events. A wonderful example that many can appreciate is the kind of experience one has when one goes to a really well made film that engages your mind and heart and explores territory that one has never experienced. When you are sitting in the theater all of your attention is focused on the film and the story it is portraying. All of the focus is provided for you when you are watching a film because the filmmaker has chosen beforehand exactly what he wants you to notice and put your full attention on. There is no question about the focus because there is only one arena that is being focused on - and the characters development is a personal experience for everyone in the theater - they are all having the same personal experience. It is really quite remarkable because we take film going for granted in our age, yet it was not always so. This film going experience has transformed society and civilization as it brings millions of people together to share the exact same experience that the film provides. This is why it is a bonding experience what the subject of films comes up at social gatherings - everyone can participate because they all had the same experience in watching the film. Of course their perceptions of that experience are individual, but those interpretations all based on the same exact experience in the film. I’m digressing here because the idea of film and its contingent experience is so amazing, and such a perfect metaphor for true spiritual detachment.

It is true that not everyone has the same emotional or intellectual capacities, yet there is one constant that effects everyone who goes to a film, they all realize that the film is just that, a film, and not reality. When they leave the theater, each individual knows that they have entered the "real" world and even when the film is highly emotionally charged and they are changed from it, they still do not think that it actually happened, they know for certain that it was produced by actors and sets and scripts. Although a really excellent film can suspend your experience of reality whereby you are so deeply affected that you change your beliefs about some subject, especially when the film is based on a true-life story, a film going experience still provides a great metaphor for what true spiritual detachment is all about.

You see, true spiritual detachment does not cut you off from life experiences; it actually enhances those experiences by giving you a greater view and consequently understanding of things. This is achieved because while the individuals’ emotional and mental bodies are fully engaged in an experience and the experience has full impact in those bodies, at the same time there is ever so lightly a sense of the observation of what is happening which contributes a very real sense of intelligent objectivity. It is very similar to the film going experience because the suspended disbelief of the film is like the detachment one maintains as one observes ones life experience form the vantage point of Soul. Soul, that eternal spark of god that is the true you, the endless you, the continuous you. It is Soul, the you that has been through thousands of experiences in this life and many others that can illuminate your emotional and mental bodies with the objective divine reality of true beingness and give you a greater sense of your own creativity as you make your life and its experiences come to life. It is divine love in action that gives one the gift of expansion and realization as these experiences mount ever higher towards greater expressions of divine love.

The love that comes from this experience of true spiritual detachment is deeper and richer than surface emotional feelings; it communicates wisdom, and links one with the sound current which manifests all of life in its myriad forms. And on and on one sails into the heart of god and life as one allows oneself to become more adept with true spiritual detachment and divine beingness. The result is that one develops a compassion and a kindness that can transcend anything the mind can imagine and lift your entire being into realms of knowing that only divine silence can contain; for this knowingness is too large for the mental body to grasp, and too magnificent for the emotional body to contain.

Some call it bliss
